WHAT IS THE INSTALLATION PROCESS OF AN OUTBUILDING?
Most outbuildings are constructed in a simpler manner than that of a residential building. Usually they are sited on a concrete ground bearing slab/raft foundation of 100mm-150mm thick as the structures are generally lightweight structures.
Many outbuildings will be prefabricated and delivered to site for onsite assembly by the carpenters, so it is important to ensure that HGV vehicular access is available. Traditional methods of construction are also used where space or cost is limited.
In general, outbuildings will be a single wall construction without the need of a cavity or insulation that habitable dwellings require by law.
As the constructions are generally lightweight it is important that they are adequately secured to the foundation ensuring protection in heavy winds and storms.
