WHAT IS TIMBER PANELLING?
Traditionally timber panelling was a very common way of enhancing the appearance of an internal wall, often behind such panelling would be an unfinished masonry wall so a saving on wall finishes would be made as well as creating an attractive architectural feature.
Timber panelling would ordinarily be constructed in a joinery workshop from critical dimensions obtained from the actual structure.
The modern era and the many prefabricated board materials available to us has made such works far cheaper to replicate.
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF TIMBER PANELLING?
Easy to update boring and flats walls to bring fresh look to your rooms
Wall panelling can be tailored to any look and style
A range of timber finishes can be used
Camouflage for unattractive features
Secret entrances can be formed easily with panelling
Historical architecture can be replicated
WHAT IS THE INSTALLATION PROCESS OF TIMBER PANELLING?
As noted above the range of works is vast but generally panelling will be secured to a range of timber grounds and battens that are screw fixed to the structural wall with perfect alignment, plumb and level.
Many types of wall panelling can be created on site by a 2nd fix carpenter, built in-situ and some more detailed versions will need the assistance of a joinery contractor.
